USA Racquetball kicks off their season of National Championships every February in Tempe, Arizona with National Doubles. It is one of the most exciting events of the year, as it brings together a different group of players from the normal IRT and LPRT schedules. Many of the tour’s biggest stars come out for the Doubles, but they are met with competition from the nation’s best “doubles specialists.”
This year, there is even more at stake than usual, as the winners of each of the Men’s and Women’s US Team Qualifying divisions will be granted spots on the US National team, and will be traveling to Toronto this summer to represent the USA at the Pan American Championships.
The Pan Am’s are the most prestigious title any racquetball player can win, so needless to say, everyone playing in Tempe will be looking for the win. The chance to play on the biggest stage in the sport, with USA on their back, is something that is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these athletes.
It is going to be exciting to see how the draws shake out, and whether or not the top pros can take the title, or one of the specialists can show why they are the best in the world at what they do!
